About Ashleigh Rains
Ashleigh Rains has produced and production managed short films, music videos, and features. She is the recipient of two BravoFACT awards, a MuchFACT award, and Cogeco award. Her first short, II, was nominated for Best Short Film at the Female Eye Film Festival and screened at festivals across North America. Ashleigh recently completed the Geordie Sabbagh-written/directed short, Tomorrow’s Shadows, starring David Cronenberg and Karine Vanasse. In 2016, she produced Flung which premiered at the 2016 Canadian Film Fest and was selected by Telefilm to screen as part of the Not Short on Talent program at the Cannes Film Festival.
Last year, Ashleigh and Geordie founded the production company, We’ll Be Over Here Productions, and are developing the web series, Face Candy and The Ungratefuls, and the feature Somewhere There’s Music. Their television series, A Detective Lives Here, has been selected for phase two of the NSI Totally Television program.
In 2017, for the second year, Ashleigh is co-programmed the feature and short programs for the Canadian Film Fest. As an actor, Ashleigh has appeared in numerous film and television productions including The Handmaid’s Tale, Designated Survivor, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
Ashleigh is a drama graduate from Queen’s University. She studied screenwriting at the University of Toronto and was selected as a participant for the Corus Media Management Accelerator Program through Women In Film & Television. She is a member of ACTRA, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, and WIFT-T.
