WIFT-T Board Member Appointed to the Order of Canada

Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) congratulates WIFT-T Board of Directors member and National Vice President of OMNI Television, Madeline Ziniak on her appointment to the Order of Canada. As Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.) - a designation which recognizes a lifetime of distinguished service in or to a particular community, group or field of activity -- Madeline was cited for "her contributions as the major driving force behind the development and growth of multilingual and multicultural television in Canada."

21st Annual Crystal Awards | Save the Date

 

 

The 21st Annual Crystal Awards will take place on Monday, November 30, 2009. This year’s Crystal Awards will be held at The Fairmont Royal York. Tickets will go on sale in September. The Crystal Awards is WIFT-T’s biggest fundraiser.

WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program | Certificate Recipients Announced

Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professions Program.

The WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program is a compilation of six modules, each consisting of three Saturday sessions. It is recommended for working professionals with up to three years experience in the industry, related university or college training and for those transitioning to a new area of the business. Participants who complete all modules receive a certificate from Humber College School of Media Studies and Information Technology.

The WIFT-T Business Management for Media Professionals Program is presented in partnership with Canwest.

Deluxe Producers Internship | Call For Applications

 

 

 



The Deluxe Producers Internship provides one Canadian female producer with hands-on pre and post production training. The successful applicant will join Deluxe as an intern to learn about production equipment planning and requirements, and post-production video, film and sound. She will spend a total of three weeks on site participating in the intensive training program. This year’s internship begins in November 2009.

Sign up for the WIFT-T Feature Film Writing Workshop

This two-part writing course provides an introduction to the major elements of feature film screenwriting, including the development stages of a screenplay. The program also provides in-depth analysis of the major elements of feature film screenwriting.

The WIFT-T Feature Film Writing Workshop is presented with support from Bata Shoe Museum, Ontario Media Development Corporation, and Telefilm Canada.

Part Two: Intermediate/Advanced

This five-session series will build on screenwriting basics and examine how to build better characters, create stronger scene sequences, raise the stakes, keep the story moving and discover and remain true to the theme of the story.

Goodmans Presents | Music for Media for Film and Television Production

Explore the fundamentals of working with a composer, incorporating a score, and navigating projects through music licensing agreements. The panel will also focus on the steps involved in creating an original score and outline the technical, creative and budget considerations necessary for a successful project.

The evening will conclude with an informal networking reception.

Kodak New Vision Mentorship | Call for Applications

The Kodak New Vision Mentorship provides one Canadian female director with the opportunity to prepare for the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival through intensive industry coaching and a post-festival creative mentorship. The recipient also receives a $5,000 in-kind donation of Kodak Motion Picture film stock.

Toronto Urban Film Festival

WIFT-T is pleased to partner with Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) to present the Most Ambitious Film by a Female Director Award.
