Part 1: Beginner - Introduction & Acquisition Thursday September 28, 2006

This seminar is designed for producers and directors 0-2 years experience in the industry who are looking to start into the realm of High Definition. No prior experience in HD is required, however and overall understanding of production for Film and television is essential.

- Sony HDCAM and HDCAM/SR
- Panasonic D5 and DVCPro HD
- HDV and XDCAM

Part 2: Intermediate - Working In HD
Thursday October 26, 2006

 This seminar will focus in the postproduction side of High Definition. We will explore  the technical requirements for post production as well as workflow for HD, editing and finishing. Full understanding of HD formats will be required for this seminar. Experience: 2+ Years working in television and/or film

• HD Storage Considerations

- Range from 8 to 1092 GB per hour
- Firewire drives or RAID
- 8 bit versus 10 bit

• HD Connectivity

- How to acquire material (capture cards and interfaces)
- SDI, Firewire or analogue component
- Upconvert and downconvert issues

• HD Preview

- Choosing a display monitor
- HDSDI – DVI Converters
- Color space and calibration issues

• HD Editing

- Popular offline editors (Avid, Final Cut Pro, Premiere)
- Offline considerations (project setup, media formats)
- Popular on-line HD editors (Smoke, Symphony, Final Cut Pro)
- Colour correction in HD

Part 3: Advanced - Delivering In HD
Wednesday December 13, 2006 @ NFB

 This advanced seminar will focus on distribution and delivery in High Definition. We will look at examples from an array of sources and discuss broadcaster deliverables. Experience: 4+ Years working television and/or film + Part 2 (or similar)

Dedicated to the post production process, Alex has established a renowned boutique, not only assisting producers in the post-production of their projects, but also giving insight to the pre-production and production process, ensuring the successful completion of quality programming. Mr. Olegnowicz, who has been nominated for an Emmy and the RTS award for producing the visual effects for the Discovery Channel documentary Planet Storm , currently sits at the forefront of Hi-Definition post-production in Toronto. Imarions latest productions include such notable works as; Peter Lynch's latest documentary feature A Whale of a Tale , Shipbreakers , Masterminds , Rich Bride Poor Bride , Opening Soon , The Exodus Decoded , Final 24 , Naked Archeology and numerous other documentary features and television series.
