for the 2nd Annual WIFT International Short Film Showcase

CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2007

Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T), in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), is pleased to present the 2nd Annual WIFT International Short Film Showcase. The event, which celebrates the outstanding filmmaking talents of women worldwide, will take place on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2007, and feature 11 Canadian and international short films.

The WIFT International Short Film Showcase is an initiative of Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) and will feature screenings across the WIFTI network. Participating chapters worldwide will include Alberta – both Calgary and Edmonton, New Zealand, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, New Mexico, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Denmark, WIFT Wellington NZ, Dallas, Women in Film and Media – Pittsburgh, BAWIFT (San Francisco), Los Angeles (International Committee – WIFTI).

TORONTO SHOWCASE

Where: NFB Mediatheque, 150 John Street (at Richmond)
When: Thursday, March 8, 2007
Time: 6pm - 10pm (two-hour screening followed by cocktail reception)
Cost: WIFT-T and NFB members $15; Non-members $20

Tickets will be available at the NFB Mediatheque (150 John Street, at Richmond) and at the WIFT-T office (110 Eglinton Ave. E., Suite 601). Walk up sales only.

Following the screening, WIFT-T and the NFB will be hosting a Q & A session with WIFT-T’s mentorship award winners Barb Taylor (CBC Canadian Reflections Award), Rosamund Owen (Kodak New Vision Fellowship Award) and Big Girl director Renuka Jeyapalan. The panel will be moderated by producer Lea Marin. Following the panel there will be a wine and cheese reception.
