2008 Astral Media Mentorship Award
Call for Applications
Due Monday, April 21, 2008
Women in Film and Television – Toronto (WIFT-T) is pleased to announce the Call for Application for the first annual Astral Media Mentorship Award program. This national competitive program will give one talented Canadian female or male producer of a visible minority, Aboriginal or disabled group, the invaluable opportunity to prepare for the 2008 Banff World Television Festival through an intensive five day pre-festival mentorship and festival bursary with industry experts, and Astral Media Executive.
The 2008 Astral Media Mentorship Award winner will receive the following benefits:
• One-on-one five day pre-festival coaching with top industry executives to develop a market-driven project and pitch in Toronto.
• Complimentary festival registration
• Round trip economy airfare from Toronto to Banff
• On-site mentoring at the festival
• Guidance for post-festival follow-up
• Accommodation in Banff for up to four days of the festival
• Accommodation in Toronto for up to five days (only applicable for a non local winner)
The Astral Media Mentorship Award program is a national initiative open to emerging Canadian producers of a visible minority, Aboriginal or disabled group, working in television drama, or children's programming. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of industry representatives with final decisions announced in May.
Eligibility:
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for consideration:
• Canadian citizen
• Member of a visible minority, Aboriginal or disabled group
• Must be a member WIFT-T (may join at the time of application)
• Female or male independent producer
• Must have up to two credits (drama or children's programming)
• Must have a minimum of three years professional experience in the television industry
• Must be attending Banff World Television Festival for the first time as a producer
• Must be able to attend mentorship sessions in Banff and Toronto
• Must complete Final Report
Application Process:
Fully completed application packages must be submitted to WIFT-T by Monday, April 21, 2008 at 12 p.m. EST . Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of industry representatives. Decisions will be announced in May, 2008. Application and Guidelines are available below:
