Women in Film and Television – Toronto (WIFT-T), in partnership with the Directors Guild of Canada – Ontario, is pleased to announce Alison Reid as the winner of the 2007 DGC Ontario Emerging Television Director Award. Reid will receive her award at the 2007 Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
The DGC Ontario Emerging Television Director Award provides one emerging Canadian female director with the invaluable opportunity to receive a two-month creative mentorship with an established television director and intensive industry coaching with a leading business and/or legal representative. The mentorship and coaching sessions will begin in January 2008.
Alison Reid's 25-year career has been largely comprised of falling from buildings, crashing cars, getting shot, and running around on fire. She is recognized as a veteran Stunt Coordinator and second unit director. Her recent credits as Stunt Coordinator include Rhombus Medias "Blindness", Evolution Entertainment's "Saw 4", Sienna Films' "Cry of the Owl", and Disney's "Aaron Stone". Currently, Alison is working with Deepa Mehta, on her latest film, "Lake Ontario". With over two decades in film under her belt, Alison is in the process of transforming her career from Stunt Coordination to Directing. She participated in the Women in the Director's Chair Workshop at Banff Centre for the Arts, and the Producers Workshop at the Canadian Film Centre. She also shadowed Bruce McDonald. In 2006 she co-wrote and directed her award-winning short film "Succubus" which has screened at over forty festivals, worldwide. Alison is now in post production on her feature-film directorial debut, "Making Babies" which follows the original and compelling story of the first two women in the world giving birth to babies with two biological mothers and no father. The couple conceived through a scientific method tested only on mice, and never before tried on humans. The film is scheduled to be complete and embarking the film festival circuit by the spring of 2008.

· One-on-one, two-month mentorship with an established director member of DGC Ontario

· Complimentary WIFT-T programming pass valued at $1,200.00
