WIFT-T Announces the 2007 Emerging Television Director Award and Call for Applications

Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T) is currently accepting applications for the Emerging Television Director Award, presented in partnership with Directors Guild of Canada-Ontario.
This initiative provides one emerging Canadian female director with the invaluable opportunity to receive a two-month creative mentorship with an established television director and intensive industry coaching with a leading business and/or legal representative. The mentorship/coaching sessions will begin in January 2008. Please note that we are looking for strong candidates interested in directing television drama.
The award winner will receive the following:
· One-on-one, two-month mentorship with an established director member of DGC Ontario
· One-on-one, intensive industry coaching with a leading business and/or legal representative
· Complimentary WIFT-T programming pass valued at $1,200.00
· Award presentation and national promotion at the Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on Monday,
December 3, 2007
Eligibility
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for consideration:
· Be a Full or Associate WIFT-T member (may join at time of application)
· Be a DGC Ontario member
· Be a Canadian citizen
· Be a female director
· Have a minimum of one project (half hour or hour series or one-off: drama or documentary) at an advanced stage of development for broadcast
· Have at least one broadcast credit as a DIRECTOR
· Have a minimum of three years professional experience in the television industry
· Must be able to participate in the mentorship/coaching sessions
· Must attend award announcement at the Crystal Awards (December 3,2007)
· Must complete a Final Report
Application Process
Eligible candidates are invited to apply to the program (see Application Form). Extended Deadline for applications is November 9, 2007 at 12 noon EST. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of industry representatives.
