Women in Film and Television -Toronto (WIFT-T), in partnership with Alliance Atlantis, call for applications for the 2007 Alliance Atlantis Diversity in Broadcasting Internship Award.
This national program offers one entry-level visible minority or Aboriginal woman the opportunity to advance her career in broadcasting through experience in the Public and Regulatory Affairs department at Alliance Atlantis. The award winner will take part in a comprehensive career development program.
Award Winner Emily Bellavy credits her native Canadian heritage for inspiring her to pursue a career as a journalist. Growing up in Tecumseh, Ont., Emily learned to appreciate the diversity of cultural and linguistic origins within Native peoples when she would attend the roaring Kettle and Stony Point powwows. Emily further explored her understanding of the Aboriginal community by completing a BA in Journalism from Ryerson University.
She has practiced her craft at several organizations including The Windsor Star, The Beach Metro Community News and the Annex Gleaner. She is delighted to participate in the Alliance Atlantis Diversity in Broadcasting Internship.
The award winner will take part in a comprehensive career development program including:
• Alliance Atlantis three-month entry-level paid internship in the Public and Regulatory Affairs department (Internship to begin in November 2007)
• Award presentation at the prestigious Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on December 3, 2007 at the Fairmont Royal York
