Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T), in partnership with CBC Television, is pleased to announce Barb Taylor as the winner of this year’s CBC Canadian Reflections Award. Taylor will receive her award at the 2006 Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
The CBC Canadian Reflections Award is a national competitive award that gives one emerging Canadian female filmmaker the invaluable opportunity to receive creative support from CBC Television to develop a concept project to showcase the diversity of Canada. The winner receives a cash award to go toward production costs of a program of up to 30 minutes in length, as well as invaluable consultation with a CBC executive in charge of production.
Award Winner Barb Taylor’s creative work includes the animated shorts Tomboy and The Sheelagh. She worked at Nelvana from 1997 to 2001 on animated television series and is currently working at Corus Entertainment on the development of BoomBoxBaby.ca, Canada’s first online teen radio station. She is also working on another short, Sheelagh and Brigit, in development with support from the National Film Board of Canada.
The award winner will receive the following:
• Consultation time with an Executive in Charge of Production for CBC Television
• A $7,500 cash award to go towards the cost of production
• National promotion at the 2006 Crystal Awards
• A WIFT-T programming pass valued at $1,200
