WIFT-T Announces the Alliance Atlantis Communications Diversity
in Broadcasting Internship and Call for Applications
Women in Film and Television -Toronto (WIFT-T), in partnership with Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc., is pleased to announce the Alliance Atlantis Diversity in Broadcasting Internship Award and Call for Applications.
This national initiative offers one entry-level visible minority or Aboriginal woman the opportunity to advance her career in broadcasting through experience in the Public and Regulatory Affairs department at Alliance Atlantis.
The award winner will take part in a comprehensive career development program including:
• Three-month internship at Alliance Atlantis Public in the Regulatory Affairs department (to begin January 2007)
• An honorarium of $3,500 to be provided by Alliance Atlantis
• One-on-one career search assistance from a senior mentor provided by WIFT-T
• Trip to Ottawa to meet broadcast, Government and regulatory decision makers, and attend a VIP cocktail reception
• Award presentation at the prestigious Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on December 4, 2006
• $1,200 Programming Pass to use for any professional development programming presented
by WIFT-T’s Centre for Media Professionals
Eligibility
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for consideration:
• Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or permanent resident
• WIFT-T member (may join at time of application)
• Aboriginal / Visible minority woman
• Undergraduate university degree or diploma in the arts, business or communications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
• Enthusiasm and diplomacy
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Interest in and knowledge of Canadian broadcast industry trends and developments, policy, regulatory affairs and Government relations
• Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Must be able to attend programming presented by WIFT-T’s Centre for Media Professionals
• Must attend award presentation ceremony at the 2006 Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on
December 4, 2006
• Must be willing to re-locate to Toronto during time period of the internship at own expense
• Must complete Final Report

Fully completed application packages must be submitted to WIFT-T by October 25, 2006, 12 noon EST. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of industry representatives with final decisions announced by November 2006.
PLEASE NOTE: A $25 + GST administration fee, paid by credit card or cheque, will be required to process your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
