Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T), in partnership with Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc., is pleased to announce Iman Sheikh as this year’s recipient of the Alliance Atlantis Diversity in Broadcasting Internship. The three-month internship offers Sheikh the opportunity to advance her career in broadcasting through experience in the Public and Regulatory Affairs department at Alliance Atlantis.

The Alliance Atlantis Diversity in Broadcasting Internship is part of a comprehensive career development program that Sheikh will undertake beginning in January 2007. As part of her internship, she will assist in the co-ordination of CRTC documents and research information on regulatory affairs and Government policy. Sheikh will also travel to Ottawa to meet Government broadcasting regulatory leaders and attend a VIP cocktail reception, hosted by WIFT-T and Alliance Atlantis.

Raised in Karachi, Pakistan, Award Winner Iman Sheikh’s interest in broadcasting began at an early age. She furthered her interest in current events through a BA in Political Science at Vassar College. She moved to Canada in 2003 and is currently enrolled in the advanced journalism program at Centennial College. She has worked in various positions at the Toronto Observer, Centennial College Radio News (CCRN) and, most recently, writing political profiles for CBC News.
