2007 Deluxe Producers Internship
Presented in partnership with Deluxe

The Producers Internship will provide one Canadian female producer with coveted hands-on experience and training by giving the producer the opportunity to join Deluxe as an intern to learn about production equipment planning and requirements and post-production video, film and sound. The successful applicant will spend a total of three weeks following an intensive training program. The internship will take place November 19 to December 7, 2007.

CBC Business of Broadcasting Mentorship Award
Presented in partnership with CBC Television

The CBC Business of Broadcasting Mentorship award will give one emerging Canadian female filmmaker the invaluable opportunity to take a comprehensive week-long workshop at a designated CBC location. The winner will be given the opportunity to establish business and mentoring relationships with CBC Drama staff, and will be guided through various production and broadcast components of short film. Topics and areas of exploration will include: project management, financing film and television production, marketing and distribution, and emerging technologies and the impact of technology on content. The mentorship will begin in January 2008. The winner will be announced at the 2007 Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon held on December 3, 2007 at the Fairmont Royal York.

Breakfast Stories Series: Financial Management in Production Companies

The Breakfast Stories Series, sponsored by Shibley Righton LLP, offers an inside look at the real world of working in film and television — straight from those at the top of their game. Through in-depth interviews and audience interaction, participants will learn what it really takes to work in a range of film and television careers.

The Directors Weekend

Women in Film and Television - Toronto, in partnership with DGC Ontario, present The Directors Weekend. Join film professionals for an intensive two-day workshop on the essentials of directing. Through a synthesis of instruction, workshop and case study, participants will gain an understanding of the styles, structures and team work necessary in filmmaking. This program will also allow for exchange between participants, as a forum to discuss current projects and career goals. Participants will come away with a comprehensive overview of directing techniques, styles and best-case practices.

2007 Quebecor Bursary Program
Presented by Women in Film and Television-Toronto in association with the Quebecor Fund

This provincial program is designed to assist underrepresented women and/or men in the film and television industry gain access to professional skills development and networking opportunities through WIFT-T’s Centre for Media Professionals.

The Quebecor Bursary program will provide 50 visible minorities and/or Aboriginals with a WIFT-T Full Membership at no cost to the applicant. The Bursary program is specifically targeted to the following underrepresented Visible Minority communities:

Black/African/Caribbean, South Asian, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Middle Eastern/West Asian and Latin American.

Kodak New Vision Fellowship Award Winner: Audrey Cummings

Self-confessed sci-fi buff, Audrey Cummings, is the winner of the 2007 Kodak New Vision Fellowship. Cummings will build on her creative and business skills in the coming months with acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Ruba Nadda (Sabah) and senior executive Laurie May, Co-President of Maple Pictures Corp.

Women in Film and Television Vancouver invites you to participate in The Great Adventure. Oddball Coming-of-Age? A journey through the mind? Whatever this year's theme means to you, we welcome your interpretation.

Dates: March 6th through March 8th (International Women's Day), 2008

International Submission Deadline: Friday, Nov 23, 2007 (postmark)
Final Submission Deadline: Friday, December 7, 2007

We accept a wide variety of films:
• Feature films (narrative and documentary)
• Short films (narrative and documentary)
• Commercials, music videos, videopoems, experimental shorts

Eligibility
Eligible entries may be of any genre, live-action or animation. Eligible films must have at least THREE of the following:
• a woman as Writer
• a woman as Producer
• a woman as Director
• a woman as D.O.P
• a woman as lead actor
• a woman as lead animator/editor

We encourage submissions featuring strong female characters and stories.

Notification and Awards
Notification will be given by January 25, 2008 via phone or email. Please do not contact the office before this time for the status of your entry. Films will be juried by a panel of judges and a Festival Award will be given to the woman who shows outstanding talent in her field. This winner will be acknowledged at the WIFTV Spotlight Awards Gala. Deboragh Gabler of Legacy Filmworks, LTD will sponsor cash awards to three B.C. filmmaking teams for outstanding achievement. All films submitted will be
considered for this award, regardless of length and medium.

Kodak Cinematography Workshop
Toronto: November 5 - 9, 2007

The Kodak Cinematography Workshop provides a unique opportunity to shoot a 35mm music video of an up-and-coming Canadian rock band in a supportive and creative environment.

This five-day workshop is limited to 12 participants and covers all topics related to the theory and practice of motion picture photography. Exercises are designed to allow freedom to experiment with cinematography tools and techniques, and give participants real-world experience in working with a crew, director and talent.

Tuition cost is $2,000 CDN and includes a $1,000 CDN Kodak Motion Picture film certificate for each participant. Tuition covers equipment rentals, locations, meals, postproduction facilities, film, processing, crew and talent, as well as four Kodak CD-ROM educational courses.

Humber School of Media Studies and Information Technology Presents: Feature Screenwriting 1 (SCWR200)

Hit the Big Screen
Designed to get you and keep you writing.

Offered by the Film and Television program at Humber's School of Media Studies, this online program offers a unique, interactive approach to screenwriting for Feature Film writers of all levels.

Your script material will be reviewed and critiqued on a one-to-one-basis by our experienced faculty of story editors, all industry professionals. At the same time, you will be mentored and learn to refine your craft by participating in our online workshops and discussions led by an accomplished industry professional.

Curriculum
This 14-week course is divided into two-week blocks with each block focusing on a specific aspect of screenwriting: concept, plot, structure, conflict, character development, tone, pacing and dialogue. We encourage all participants to take part in the course work but the emphasis will always be on your own writing.

This program is customized to address the strengths and shortcomings of individual scripts. You will work on your script material at your own pace and be individually assessed on your individual ability to handle the major elements of screenwriting.

Submission Requirements:
1 page Synopsis/Concept
Up to 15 pages of outline, treatment or script

Fee: $595.00

Additional Costs: Approximate $40 for purchase of books for required reading.

Deadline Extension: OMDC Interactive Digital Media Fund
Deadline: November 19, 2007 (By 5pm)

Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) is pleased to announce a new deadline for the OMDC Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Fund. Revised documentation is now available online (www.omdc.on.ca – under Programs/Content and Marketing Funds / OMDC Interactive Digital Media Fund). The OMDC IDM Fund is a program that is designed to provide Ontario companies with access to the funding required to move their proprietary content projects into production. Successful applicants to this program will receive a non-refundable contribution of up to $100,000 to a maximum of 50% of the project budget to create a market-ready interactive digital media content product.

The OMDC IDM Fund is open to Ontario screen-based content creation companies that are actively involved in the production and exploitation of interactive digital media content. Eligible projects may represent a range of genres, delivery platforms and budgets but must be suitable for distribution on a digital media platform, network or device that is interactive.
