CMP [centre for media professionals] WIFT-T training and skills development: Call for Applications: WIFT-T BANFF Mentorship Award
This national competitive program gives one talented Canadian female or male producer, of a visible minority or Aboriginal group, the invaluable opportunity to prepare for attending the 2006 Banff World Television Festival through an intensive three-month Market Mentorship and Festival Bursary. The BANFF experience is comprehensive, allowing the award winner to take full advantage of the business and creative opportunities available at this world-class festival.
The 2006 WIFT-T BANFF Mentorship Award will include:
• One-on-one coaching with top industry executives to develop a market-driven project and pitch
• Complimentary Festival registration
• $500 voucher towards airfare
• Festival pitch meetings and on-site support
• Guidance for post-Festival follow-up
• Complimentary Festival programming pass
• Complimentary registration to WIFT-T’s Getting Ready for BANFF program
The WIFT-T BANFF Mentorship Award program is a national initiative open to emerging Canadian producers of a visible minority or Aboriginal group working in television drama, documentary, or lifestyle.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 12 noon EST. Eligibility criteria, full guidelines and application forms are available from the WIFT-T website at www.wift.com. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of industry representatives with final decisions announced before WIFT-T's Getting Ready for BANFF program.

WIFT-T is currently accepting applications for the Kodak New Vision Fellowship. This national initiative provides one exceptional Canadian female director with the invaluable opportunity to prepare for the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival (September 2006), through intensive industry coaching and a TIFF bursary, followed by a two-month creative mentorship with an established director.
Eligible candidates are invited to apply to the program. Deadline for applications is Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of industry representatives. The award winner will be notified prior to TIFF and the official announcement will be made in September 2006 at the WIFT-T Festival Reception.

On a monthly basis, WIFT-T opens its doors for a New and Prospective Members Meeting. At the free meeting, we give an overview of the organization; its history, mandate, structure, a breakdown of the courses offered and other benefits of membership.

WIFT-T will be accepting nominations this spring for the 2006 Crystal Awards. Cannes Party Invitation for WIFTI Members
Plan on attending the Cannes Film Festival this year?
Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) and WFTV United Kingdom invite members to their annual party on the first Saturday of the Cannes Film Festival.
Much-anticipated and well-attended, the WFTV reception is a key date in the Cannes Film Festival calendar, giving members a chance to network and meet men and women from WIFTI chapters all over the world.
Tickets to this event are severely limited, distributed strictly on a first-come first-served basis, and security is tight - only those who are on the guest list and have full Cannes accreditation will be allowed entry. BANFF to Toast Paul Haggis
The big names continue to flock to the 27th annual Banff World Television Festival.
This year, the fest is set to host Oscar®-winning writer/director/producer Paul Haggis at the June 11-14 event. Haggis, the only person in Oscar history to write back-to-back Best Picture-winning films (for Crash and Million Dollar Baby), will be at the Fairmont Banff Springs to accept the first-ever NBC Universal Canada Award of Distinction. The Canadian-born scribe is also set to take part in the Festival’s popular “In Conversation With…” speaker series to plug his latest venture, The Black Donnellys, a series he is developing for NBC.
