Business Management for Media Professionals
Senior Level Certificate Program - February 2008
Presented in partnership with Schulich Executive Education Centre, Schulich School of Business

The industry executive training program you have been waiting for!

The Program:
Specifically designed for managers, professionals, and entrepreneurs working in the industry, this 6-session, 13-day, senior level program will help participants gain a thorough and rounded understanding of how the Canadian industry operates within a global context. Themes that will run throughout the sessions include technological change, multiplatform delivery of content, globalization of the marketplace, the challenges of leadership in times of great change, and how leaders will manage major decision-making. With its emphasis on business skills, Business Management for Media Professionals is designed to help participants advance their careers.

Registration will be limited to 20 participants who will be asked to submit applications which will be reviewed by an industry committee. Fees, dates and speakers are subject to change.

Instructors/Speakers/Panelists:
Led by the highly respected Trina McQueen, a veteran broadcaster and journalist who has held a wide range of executive positions in public and private television as well as currently serving as the CTV Visiting Professor of Broadcast Management at Schulich School of Business, the program will feature speakers and panelists from both the industry and the best of the academic world.

Launch: Feb 8-10, 2008
The program launches on Feb 8th, 2008 with an intensive 3-day overview residential session that will look at the Canadian industry present and future within a changing global marketplace and the leadership skills needed to survive and prosper.

The residential weekend will be held at the Park Hyatt hotel (4 Avenue Road, Toronto). Subsequent sessions will be held at either SEEC or the Miles S. Nadal Management Centre in the Ernst & Young Tower, Toronto Dominion Centre. For directions see:

Fees:
The fee for the course will be $6,500 (plus $325 GST) = $6,725. ***No payment is required until notification of acceptance.

RBC Royal Bank Bursary for Independent Producers/Small Production Companies
A senior woman in a small production company (maximum five employees) or an independent producer may apply for this bursary. WIFT-T will cover $3,300 of the cost of the program. 

WIFT-T Bursary for Independent Producers/Small Production Companies
A senior woman in a small production company (maximum five employees) or an independent producer may apply for this bursary. WIFT-T will cover $3,300 of the cost of the program.   

WIFT-T Career Transition Bursary
This bursary is for a mid to senior woman in the film and television industry who is unemployed. WIFT-T will cover $3,300 of the cost of the program.

WIFT-T Bursary for Underrepresented Groups
This bursary is for a mid to senior level woman of color, Aboriginal woman, or a disabled woman in the film and television industry. WIFT-T will cover $3,300 of the cost of the program.

To Apply:
Applicants are asked to send in their resumes and a brief description (no longer than a page) of what they hope to get out of the program and to provide a name and contact information for one reference from the industry.

All applications will be reviewed by an industry committee and applicants will be notified of their acceptance to the program within three weeks of receipt.

Once a candidate has been accepted to the program, they will be guided through the registration process. Registration will not be considered to be completed until payment has been received. Payment can be made by credit card or cheque.

Final Deadline: January 15, 2008, 5:00 pm EST. However, please note that as enrollment for the course is limited to 20 people, it is recommended that applications be submitted as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Cancellation Policy
Registrants who provide notice of cancellation by January 11/08 will receive a complete refund, minus a $100 administration fee. Non-attendance will incur full seminar tuition cost. If you are unable to attend the program due to unforeseen circumstances, your organization may suggest a suitable replacement participant.
