A free networking event exclusively for WIFT-T members
Join fellow WIFT-T members and Canada’s leading immigration lawyers at an exclusive panel session on Monday, November 13, 2006. A new addition to our Goodmans networking series, this panel will demystify the many challenges in acquiring U.S. visas and will provide insight into working with U.S. customs and port authorities.
This panel will be helpful for all levels of professionals, in film and television, looking to do business in the U.S.
Goodmans Presents: Doing Business in the U.S. will explore:
• What visa options are available and appropriate
• When you need an employment authorization
• Working legally in the United States
• The role of an immigration lawyer
Moderator:
Sandra Cunnigham has been producing independently for ten years. Early films include: Curtis’ Charm, Saint Jude and Possible Worlds. Titles produced with Serendipity Point Films include: Ararat, The Statement, Being Julia, Where the Truth Lies and Fugitive Pieces by writer/director Jeremy Podeswa, currently in post production. Sandra is also a former programmer for Perspective Canada at TIFF and the co-chair of the Feature Film Committee of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association.
Panelists:
Joel S. Guberman, a senior partner with Guberman, Garson, Bush, has been practicing in the field of immigration law for more than 25 years. He is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Immigration Law. He is Past-Chair of the Ontario Bar Association, Immigration and Citizenship Section, and is a founding member and Past-Chair of the Canada Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Heather N. Segal is a partner with Guberman, Garson, Bush. She is a Director on the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the first Canadian to ever hold this position. She has been voted one of the “Best Lawyers in Canada” by the publication Best Lawyers in Canada.
A question-and-answer period will follow the formal panel discussion. The evening will conclude with an informal wine and cheese networking reception.
