Join fellow WIFT-T members and some of the city's most reputable publicists, at an exclusive panel session on Tuesday March 28, 2006. This addition to our Goodmans networking series allows WIFT-T members the opportunity to gain insight and guidance from some of the industries most experienced professionals. The panel will include publicists backgrounds (unit, festival and network) which makes this session a not-to-miss for anyone interested in knowing more about this field.

This session will explore:
•  The role of a publicist
•  What a good publicist should be doing
•  The importance of finding the right publicist for your project

Cynthia Amsden

Cynthia Amsden founded Roundstone Communications in 1999 with a primary focus on unit publicity, and secondary emphasis on festival and release publicity. She has completed over forty projects in the last six years. Her most recent film credits include Sarah Polley’s feature film directorial debut, Away From Her, Lions Gate’s Skinwalkers, TriStar’s Silent Hill directed by Christophe Gans, Sturla Gunnarsson’s Beowulf & Grendel, Don McKellar’s Childstar for Rhombus Media as well as Clean, directed by Olivier Assayas. Amsden also wrote the press notes for Michael Moore’s Bowling for Columbine.

Television credits include all three seasons of Slings & Arrows for Rhombus Media, It’s Me, Gerald for Showcase, The Newsroom 2 for CBC, This is Wonderland, also for CBC, the CBS miniseries Hitler: The Rise of Evil, and Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay also for CBS.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, Amsden has been responsible for all the publicity for such films as Guy Maddin’s The Saddest Music in the World and My Dad is 100 Years Old, both starring Isabella Rossellini, Bruce McDonald’s The Love Crimes of Gilliam Guess, starring Joely Collins, and Twist starring Nick Stahl.

Amsden brings to her work as a publicist a decade of experience as a journalist, writing for GQ, E! Online, Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star, Toronto Life and The Ottawa Citizen, and an additional decade in advertising as a Market Research Project Manager for BBD&O and the Newspaper Marketing Bureau.

Anna Maria Muccilli

AMPR was founded in 1999 by public relations veteran Anna Maria Muccilli, one of Canada's leading specialists in her field. AMPR's most recent credits include directing Canadian marketing campaigns for The Passion of The Christ, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Mambo Italiano. Other recent successes include Neil Young: Heart of Gold, The Squid and the Whale, A Very Long Engagement, Before Sunset, and Mad Hot Ballroom. Current and previous clients include Warner Independent Pictures, Paramount Classics, Equinoxe Films, Capri Films, Infinity Features, ThinkFilm, Cowboy Pictures, and RAI International.

With more than 18 years of experience in the field of arts and entertainment, Ms. Muccilli was previously Vice-President of Publicity and Promotion at Alliance Releasing, Canada's leading independent film distribution company, orchestrating campaigns on such classics as Pulp Fiction, Crash, Trainspotting, The English Patient, and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

Prior to that Anna Maria was Director of Communications at parent company Alliance Communications, overseeing corporate communications and publicity for the company's numerous film and television productions.
