Join fellow WIFT-T members and a sampling of professionals from the filmmaking industry as they share their stories at an exclusive panel on Wednesday, September 6, 2006. Led by filmmaker and CanadianFilmmaker.com website visionary Wendy Ord, this addition to our Goodmans networking series allows WIFT-T members the opportunity to gain insight and guidance from some of the industries most experienced professionals. The panel will discuss Development, Production and Distribution resources found on CanadianFilmmaker.com, making this session an exciting opportunity for anyone interested or working in the Canadian film industry.

Wendy Ord, Filmmaker, Directors Guild of Canada - Ontario Representative, and Site Concept and Advisor for CanadianFilmmaker.com
Wendy Ord is a writer, director, producer and first assistant director (1st AD) who has been in the Canadian film and television industry for 25 years. Ord was the first female 1st AD in Canada and has been the 1st AD on more than 50 projects including 3-D Imax films, feature films, movies of the week, and TV series. Her first feature film, Black Swan, which she co-wrote, produced and directed, won awards at the New York Independent Film Festival and Music and Film in Motion Film Festival. Black Swan was theatrically released in 2002/3, has sold to more than 25 countries around the world, had a wide video release and is currently playing on Canada’s pay television channels. Ord is currently in the final stages of development on her second feature film with the participation of Telefilm Canada, Movie Central and The Movie Network.

President, Ostrow and Company
Page Ostrow is aligned with associates who have a shared vision to deliver films to the marketplace that are thought provoking, compelling and entertaining. Films that inspire audiences to take action in life because of what they experience on the screen. In addition to functioning as the producers’ representative Page Ostrow holds Executive-producing and Co-producing credits on such films as Heavens Fall a film about the famous Scottsboro trial starring Timothy Hutton and David Stathairn to be released in 2006, Stolen Childhoods with Meryl Streep theatrically released in 2005, Sweat, a theatrical documentary that exposes the Nike sweat shop horrors to be released in 2006, and Juvies, a documentary about kids behind bars in adult prisons narrated by Mark Wahlberg which premiered on HBO in 2005, produced by Mark Wahlberg, Leslie Neal and John Densmore (The Doors).

Philippa King
Vice President, Business Affairs, Marblemedia
Philippa King is Vice President, Business Affairs, at Marblemedia, a Toronto-based television and new media company. She has worked in the Canadian film and television industry for more than 20 years, specializing in development and production financing and contract management. Before joining Marblemedia, King had been Head of Business Affairs at Capri Entertainment, and at Rhombus Media and Rhombus International. She also has worked at the Ontario Film Development Corporation, first as an analyst assessing the viability of financing applications, then as Head of Business and Legal Affairs, overseeing the agency's film investments and recoupment of revenue. She has spoken at film financing seminars, and has taught in the Radio & Television Arts Program at Ryerson University.

Gabriella Martinelli
President and CEO, Capri Releasing
Gabriella Martinelli has been labeled "A one-woman cheerleader for the Canadian film industry" After having studied at Carleton University, the University of Victoria, working on commercial productions and features such as My American Cousin (six Genie Awards) she realized a move to Toronto was necessary to advance in the industry. Working with Peter O'Brian on Milk and Honey lead her found Capri Films in 2000 and Capri Releasing in 2004 a dynamic entertainment company with Canadian roots and an international perspective. Martinelli's various partnerships have been with Baz Luhrmann ( Romeo + Juliet ), David Cronenberg (Naked Lunch , winning eight Genie Awards), Terry Gilliam, Tideland and on going productions with her UK- based partner Jeremy Thomas.

A question-and-answer period will follow the formal panel discussion. The evening will conclude with an informal wine and cheese networking reception.
