Shauna de Cartier

Shauna de Cartier founded Six Shooter Records in 2000. Prior to her career in music, she held top-level senior management positions, while earning an MBA over four solid years of night school. But the corporate world was not for her. Faced with a promotion, a raise, and a clear path to corporate success, Shauna instead ditched the pumps and pantyhose scene to work in the music industry. She started out as an artist manager in 1998 before starting Six Shooter Records two years later. The combined roster of the label and management companies boasts 16 artists -- among them are Luke Doucet, Justin Rutledge, Christine Fellows, Elliott Brood, NQ Arbuckle, Rheostatics, Whitey Houston, and Shout Out Out Out Out.

Rights management expert Elizabeth Klinck will provide guidance to producers dealing with rights management, song publishing rights, and master rights when acquiring and contracting music for their production. After a short break, a panel moderated by Elizabeth Klinck will discuss how to hire, locate and license music, composers and stock music. The panel will include a lawyer, a composer from the Guild of Canadian Film Composers (GCFC) and representatives from the Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA) including a music supervisor, and producer.
