Susan Abramovitch

Susan Abramovitch is a partner at Gowlings in its Toronto office. Recognized by Lexpert as a leading entertainment lawyer, Ms. Abramovitch's practice covers music, film, television, live theatre, multimedia, videogaming and book publishing. Ms. Abramovitch previously practised law at Canada's premier entertainment law boutique Stohn Abramovitch, where she was a founding partner, and at Debevoise & Plimpton in NY and Paris. She is called to the bar in Ontario, NY and Québec. Graduating with both LL.B. and B.C.L. degrees, she was the gold medalist for her year in both the Civil Law and National Law Programs at McGill's Faculty of Law, and served as a law clerk to the Honourable Mr. Justice Gérard V. La Forest of the Supreme Court of Canada

Rights management expert Elizabeth Klinck will provide guidance to producers dealing with rights management, song publishing rights, and master rights when acquiring and contracting music for their production. After a short break, a panel moderated by Elizabeth Klinck will discuss how to hire, locate and license music, composers and stock music. The panel will include a lawyer, a composer from the Guild of Canadian Film Composers (GCFC) and representatives from the Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA) including a music supervisor, and producer.
