Nghia Nguyen

As Vice-President and General Counsel Breakthrough Films & Television Inc. Nghia is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Breakthrough’s business and legal affairs. Throughout his 11-year career, he has served as both corporate counsel and production lawyer on numerous television and feature film projects. He has also taken an active role in identifying and bringing projects to Breakthrough. He was instrumental in finding and acquiring the rights to produce Atomic Betty, Breakthrough's Gemini Award-nominated animation series, and serves as Co-Executive Producer on the series. He has extensive experience in intellectual property, corporate/commercial law and all other elements of entertainment law. A graduate of the University of Victoria (LL.B.) and McGill University (B.Sc.), he was called to the Bars of British Columbia and Manitoba in 1996, and the Bar of Ontario in 2000. He is a member of the ACCT, the Canadian and American Bar Associations, and the Law Societies of B.C., Manitoba and Upper Canada, and has appeared on numerous panels as a guest speaker in the film and television industry.
