Margaret Glover
Story Consultant, UK
Margaret Glover’s work with writers and directors in the conception, development, and production of their stories began in the theatre. She worked and trained with Lloyd Richards, first at the National Playwrights Conference (an early model for the Sundance Institute) then at the Yale School of Drama. A move to London precipitated a change in medium and audience. As Development Producer for a small independent specializing in children’s programming Margaret adapted THE MERCHANT OF VENICE for Channel 4 Schools, devised and produced SNAP, a long-running series for CITV, and co-produced Olivia Hetreed’s adaptation of E Nesbit’s THE TREASURE SEEKERS for ITV. In 1997, she joined United Film & Television Productions as script editor and assisted in the development and production of a P D James three-parter, a Peter Kosminsky drama-doc, and a new detective series based on a Peter Lovesey character. During two plus years as Development Executive for Granada International Drama, Margaret worked across audiences and continents. She spearheaded the much-lauded adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s THE ILLUSTRATED MUM (International Emmy and RTS Award), a UK-US co-production of THE GREAT GATSBY, and helped launch CITV ratings winner, MY PARENTS ARE ALIENS, as well as GIRLS IN LOVE. Margaret’s work in film began as co-producer on Pete Travis’s short from Nick Hornby’s story, FAITH (LIFF, 1996; BBC2, 1997) and has been instrumental in the development of projects by writer-directors Tim Cunningham, Debbie Isitt, and Brian Skeet. She is co-writer with David Rocksavage on his second feature (currently in pre-production) and is producing Nottingham-based writer Jenny McLeod’s first feature to be directed by Anthony Alleyne. Margaret is a visiting tutor on the MA Filmmaking and MA Screenwriting courses at London Film School and has previously taught at Birkbeck, Goldsmiths, and Leeds Metropolitan in the UK. Margaret is a graduate of Yale University and the Yale School of Drama.
