Justin Trefgarne
Development Executive, UK

Justin was a Development Executive at Working Title from 2002 until January 2006. He attended Haileybury College on an Art Scholarship before taking a 2.1 in Art History at Bristol University. Following this he studied acting at LAMDA; on graduating he founded Odyssey, a theatre company. Their first production, BLOOD AND ICE, was The Times’ Critics Choice in January 1997. This led to him working as an Assistant Director in the commercial theatre, including a season at the Open Air Theatre, Regents Park. But it was a brief stint as a runner on Neil Jordan’s THE END OF THE AFFAIR that confirmed his spiritual home was in the movies.

After working as a freelance script reader he was hired as an assistant to writer-director Oliver Parker (AN IDEAL HUSBAND), and shortly afterwards took a development job at Fragile Films. In 2002 he joined Working Title. There he was involved in a number of projects including the Oscar and Golden Globe nominated PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, THE INTERPRETER, MR BEAN’S HOLIDAY, Edgar Wright’s HOT FUZZ and the adaptation of Ian McEwan’s ATONEMENT.

In 2004, Justin wrote, directed, photographed and edited the short film TIMEKILLING. Encouraged by the reaction, he left Working Title to pursue a career as a writer-director. His new short film, a science fiction thriller called LIFE XP is in post-production. In addition he is writing an original screenplay NIGHTSHIFT, for the UK Film Council and ALIVE, a thriller for Black Number Films.
